While the video gaming industry waits for Nintendo to formally announce the Switch 2 system, the company has chosen to reveal and market a new hardware product. However, it is not a console or controller; rather, it is an alarm clock.
The company unveiled the Nintendo Sound Clock Alarmo. However, this is no ordinary alarm clock. It's designed to be an interactive device that can wake you up in the morning with sounds from popular Nintendo games, such as Super Mario Odyssey coins or music from The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild. The alarm clock's screen will also display animations from the games.
However, Nintendo claims that this alarm clock can detect your body motions in bed using a motion sensor and change the alarm noises accordingly. When you actually get out of bed, the alarm will sound a final orchestral fanfare. If you link the clock to the internet, it will get more alarms from future Nintendo games, such as Animal Crossing and others.
Aside from alarms, the Nintendo Sound Clock Alarmo may produce noises to help you go asleep at the end of the day. It can even display your sleep data on its screen. There are additional settings for the alarm to play chimes every hour, while the screen displays animated Nintendo game characters.
Currently, the device is only available to paid Switch Online subscribers in the United States and Canada. They can get the Nintendo Sound Clock Alarmo for $99.99 from the Nintendo online store. For a limited time, it will be offered at the Nintendo Store in New York City. The clock will be available to the general public in early 2025.
